The boat

Bianca lido - hull number 4022

"it has room as a 35 ft. boat"

The summer of 2013.

"Bianca Lido is the counterweight to the lightning-fast , lean narrow hull  yacth types . But it also sails fast at the same time. It is so huge below deck, it feels like 4-5 feet larger than it really is."
This was written in a danish magazine in 1982 but it doesn't make it any less true in 2014.

S/Y Insula is a Bianca Lido nr. 4022 built in 1984. It was designed by Danish yacht design company Elvstrøm & Kjærlulff who has also design a number of other yacth's for Bianca Yacth. The model was in production 1982-1987 and total of around 150 hulls were built. (the original sales material)

The outer deck sides of the boat is really good. There is a lot of space on the deck to get around and store stuff and easy access to get around on the deck. Al long the sides of the deck there is good room between the stays and the rail and the mast and stays.

The cockpit is really big and cozy. You feel safe here in all weather. I am beginning to sail a lot with the sprayhood/ dodger down with this you get a perfect view and line of site to navigate the boat safe ahead. in fact it possible to lay in full length on each side lockers and you can sail the boat comfortably with 4 man crew sitting in the cockpit.

Cleat's for sheet's and halyard's.
Inside the boat there is good place for shelter. The feeling of space below deck is due not only to boat large volume and high free board , but also very much by the way the space is utilised very well and seen with today's cruiser eye's is this still holds some trues  here 32 years later since , the boat was launched on the water.

Especially the original version (the same as Insula) from 1982 seems very high , because there were open into the large double berth under the cockpit. Later stern closed for a regular owners cabin with bulkhead and door with closet for wet sea clothes.

This cut the boat's already small  small card table, but it still remained very spacious for a 30' footer.
The boat's holds three cabins this gives  up to seven bunks with two meters in length. the biggest under the cockpit and the port side bed in the salon. The front cabin holds two bets but if you want to fit to people her they have to get "really" close. Two children fits great here.

The salon is well utilised , and you can sit up five people around the table with no problem. The L- shaped pantry is even after modern standard large and functional  with cooler and melamine covered table space. most models have brown melamine but the later has white. The toilet is however old-fashioned located in a passage midships , but it gives extra space in the salon compared to modern boats , and saving a door because the door either close the restroom or out to salon.

All in all a very nice ship o sail just two people but you can fit four with no problem but more than that is too much i think.

The boat where original outfitted a Volvo Penta MD11C engine and the former owner change the installation with a new Volvo Penta D1-30 and new sail drive and a Flex O Fold there bladed prob.
The first ships where with drive shaft but it gave some problems due to the prob was to close to the rudder making in really hard to steer under engine. Therefore it where chanced in later models to sail drive.
